Advocacy Paper: Human Rights in Social Care and Mental Health Facilities of the Republic of Moldova

The aim of the Advocacy Paper is to draw attention to the major challenges
related to respect of human rights in the social care and mental health
facilities of the Republic of Moldova. The document also outlines the actions
to be conducted by the relevant institutions in the short-term (immediate
action), the medium, and the long-term (continuous implementation) by the
relevant institutions in order to ensure a high level of respect of the rights of
persons with intellectual and psycho-social disabilities placed in the mental
health and social care institutions.
The Advocacy Paper was developed on the basis of the results of the Study
on the respect for human rights in social care and mental health facilities of
the Republic of Moldova, conducted by the Office of the United Nations High
Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) în the period October -
December 2018.
