Gender is a Key SDG Accelerator: Case Study from Moldova MAPS Mission (2018)
An analysis of the data from the 2017 UN Mainstreaming, Acceleration, and Policy Support (MAPS) mission in the Republic of Moldova demonstrates the influence gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) has to accelerate development progress towards not only gender-specific targets and goals, but towards targets and goals beyond Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, Gender Equality and Empowerment of All Women and Girls. Though evidence for GEWE as an accelerator of development abounds, this document provides a country case study for Gender Theme Groups (GTGs) and UN Country Teams (UNCTs) as they craft strategies in collaboration with national and local partners working towards the 2030 agenda

Concluding observations of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on the Republic of Moldova (2017)
The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights considered the 3rd periodic report of the Republic of Moldova on the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (E/C.12/MDA/3) at its 56th and 57th meetings (E/C.12/2016/SR.56 and 57) held on 21 and 22 September 2017, and adopted the following concluding observations at its 78th meeting, held on 6 October 2017.
Concluding observations of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (2017)
The recommendations were addressed to the Republic of Moldova by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination as part of the revision process which took place in May 2017 in Geneva. The recommendations are expected to inform further national policies in the area of minority rights for the next 4.5 years.

The Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Rita Izsák-Ndiaye, conducted an official visit to the Republic of Moldova from 20 to 29 June 2016. The Republic of Moldova is a multi-ethnic, multireligious and multicultural society with a considerable legal framework for the protection of minority rights; nevertheless, the lack of institutional attention and dedicated budget provisions, compounded by the recent economic crisis, remain major obstacles for its proper implementation.
Legal analysis of the decisions of the Equality Council and the decisions of the domestic courts on discrimination cases of the Republic of Moldova (2016)
The research for this report was undertaken in the summer of 2016 and was designed to assess the remedies available for victims of discrimination in the Republic of Moldova. First, an analysis of a number of selected decisions of the Equality Council, including all of its decisions that have been contested in the courts and, the decisions of courts following those challenges, was undertaken.

Feasibility Study on the ratification of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2016)
This study examines the feasibility for the Republic of Moldova to ratify the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (OP CRPD). Pursuant to an overview of the Protocol, it examines the Moldovan legislation and case law against the provisions of the covenant. The study further analyses the opportunities and obstacles to ratification.

Perceptions of Human Rights in the Republic of Moldova (2016)
The study “Perceptions of Human Rights in the Republic of Moldova” describes some important aspects regarding public knowledge and awareness of human rights, their observance by different players, in general, and compared to different vulnerable groups in the country. The findings of the study are especially important in the current context of the Republic of Moldova. First, it appears that the information level of the population is very low, especially among rural population. Also, the reduced access to information in this context, and the possibility to defend the violated rights should be mentioned.
Disability Mobility & Road Risk in Moldova (2016)
This paper is based on a survey of 100 individuals with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova. The aim of the survey has been to record the types of issues faced by people with different disabilities living in Moldova and whether they report specific challenges related to road safety. The survey was designed to gather information on how easily people with disabilities can use Moldovan roads, what they think of the road safety environment, and what issues they face as road users. This information is important for effective road safety management, and our report makes a number of recommendations for public policy makers in Moldova.
Behavioral and social determinants of adolescent health (2016)
The 2014 assessment study of Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) in the Republic of Moldova has been carried out by the national HBSC research team, with technical assistance from the World health Organization and financial support from the Swiss Agency for development and Cooperation. The purpose of the study is to obtain new evidence and increase the level of awareness in relation to health behaviors, health and lifestyle of adolescents in their social context. The study is both a scientific research and a tool for international monitoring of health and health behaviors in school-aged children.
Study on Equality Perceptions and Attitudes in the Republic of Moldova (2015)
The “Study on Equality Perceptions and Attitudes in the Republic of Moldova” measures the attitudes and perceptions of the population (the social distance index (SDI) and the existing stereotypes) regarding 14 groups considered to be vulnerable and marginalized, namely: persons with mental and intellectual impairments; persons with physical impairments; LGBT persons; persons living with HIV/AIDS; Roma people; Russians living in the RM; Russian-speaking persons; Romanians living in the RM; Jewish people; persons of African origin; foreigners living in the RM, but not holding RM citizenship; persons of Muslim religion; other religious minorities; ex-detainees. The data reflected in the study refer to the year 2015.
