Young filmmakers created motivational spots for elections

On June 25, 2019 the award ceremony of Filmmakers Camp, laboratory of ideas in the electoral field, was held. The 7 teams composed of 3 members each, have reached the finals of the competition, creating different motivational and innovative spots.

Moldovan young men and women filmmakers took one month to work on their ideas on video making. During May 17 – 18, 2019 they have attended the Filmmakers Camp and got instructed by professional video producers in the election domain – the Studio "Sergiu Prodan PR & Advertising" team, the event’s partner, and the teams of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The jury awarded the first place to OKO team (Dan Isac, Cristian Niholat and Diana Vlas).  “We are happy that we succeeded and won the first place, although I was sure of the spot quality and of our capabilities. It was a competition, therefore our primary goal was to win. We are proud of us and we are glad to have met the requirements of the organizers," said Dan Isac and Cristian Niholat.

M.F.P. Film team was ranked second (Natalia Fomina, Petru Palamariuc, Anatolie Marcoci), and the third place was awarded to the Alengers team (Georgiana Fînaru, Ruslan Sașco, Alexei Golubev).

Alina Russu, Chairperson of CEC, mentioned that “the best spots created by Filmmakers Camp participants could be broadcasted online and on TV this autumn. It is for the first time when CEC will broadcast during the election period motivational spots created by young filmmakers, enthusiasts who care about the future of the country and its citizens".

Dima Al-Khatib, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. and UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Moldova said at the event: “Creativity and inclusiveness are always needed to develop user-friendly and visually-appealing video materials, that would stand out, motivate and make us all reflect on our civic roles and opportunities. They are the foundation of the 2030 Agenda, particularly of SDG 16 - Peace, justice, and strong institutions".

The director Sergiu Prodan mentioned: “I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw, especially the two spots ranked first and second, they are professionally designed and are well created. It was really a competition of ideas - many good ideas were presented; the teams had a serious objective to fulfill. The project should go on, young filmmakers are creative and with a good technical support could obtain better results".

The winners received the following prizes:

  • 1st – Video camera
  • 2nd – Wireless Headphones
  • 3rd – Graphic Tablets

The other teams received consolation prizes.

The spots created by the teams participating at Filmmakers Camp shall be published on the Facebook page of the event during the next days.

The Filmmakers Camp, laboratory of ideas in the electoral field, is an event organized by the Central Electoral Commission and UNDP Project "Enhancing democracy through inclusive and transparent elections”, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), by the British Embassy in Chisinau through the Good Governance Fund and by the Netherlands Embassy through Matra Program.
