United Nations Day

Today, 24 October, we celebrate the 74th anniversary of the United Nations Charter, that sets the principles, values and ideals of the entity’s work in the entire world.

On the United Nations Day, UN Moldova reconfirms its commitment to achieving the Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals in Moldova, in line with the national development priorities of the Government and people’s aspirations for a modern and prosperous country.

In the period, 24 October - 8 November, UN agencies in Moldova will deploy a range of activities aiming at informing and raising the awareness on the Agenda 2030, its alignment to the priorities of Moldova, and everyone’s contribution to achievement of the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals in their everyday life. One of the activities planned is „UN is going to schools” within which over 40 schools and universities from all over the country will have as guests heads of agencies and employees from UN agencies speaking to pupils and students about the importance of involving themselves in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

” In Moldova, and across the world, we have committed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, our shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for both people and planet.  We have a great task ahead of us and we need to move together, leaving no one behind. Our challenges are global and increasingly interlinked. No one country can do it alone.” mentioned Simon Springett, Resident Coordinator of United Nations in Moldova.

Next year the Unite Nations will turn 75 years, a milestone to reshape and rethink our future together, leaving no-one behind.
