HOME, in Chiscareni – a new touristic route opened in Moldova with the support of migrants
Chiscareni village, Sangerei district may become a new tourist attraction in Moldova. A new touristic route “HOME, in Chiscareni” was launched here and discovers the history and beautiful places of the locality.
The main attractions are the historical monuments from the times of Boyar Nicolae Casso (1839-1904), tourist rest stops in the forest, a Crafts Centre, as well as four agro-pensions with full range of services.
The idea of creating a touristic route belongs to the Town Hall and was supported by Moldovan migrants who came with a contribution in a total amount of MDL 12,000, Government of Switzerland via UNDP (MDL 420,658), DVV International (MDL 98,000) and investment of owners of the pensions in the amount of MDL 243,600.
“Besides promoting the local heritage, this project contributes to the creation of new jobs, attracts investments from migrants and finally, creates conditions for people to stay at home or come back whenever they want,” said Andrei Darie, Programme Specialist, Inclusive Growth, UNDP Moldova, during the touristic route launching event.
The tourists will be able to admire the surroundings from the highest point called the Hill of Casso. They can take the local ecological transport (carriage) and enjoy bee therapy at the Albinuta (Bee) House. People can fish and relax at the rest stops by the lakes and in the forest. The route includes four agro-touristic pensions that provide accommodation and offer agricultural activities to tourists, as well as homemade ecologic meals prepared by the villagers.
“It is a very important project for the people of Chiscareni village, because it provides an enabling environment for local economic development. Besides four agro-touristic pensions, there are six local companies included in the route as a must see point that are also considered beneficiaries, which stimulate and support local producers,” said Silvia Țurcanu, Mayor of Chiscareni village.
The launching event of the “HOME - in Chiscareni” touristic route took place at the 5th edition of the Pie and Dolmades Festival, which takes place in Moldova only and promotes the image of the locality, national traditions and gastronomy.
At the event, the guests and locals could try the new touristic route for free, being guided by high school students.
“We trained a team of local guides among high school students. They already guided the first groups of tourists, including in English language. This was done so they can use their knowledge and become the first promoters of the beauty of Chiscareni,” said Viorica Ignatiuc, Trainer Guide at “Dialog” Centre.
The touristic route of Chiscareni village is one of the 14 local economic development projects implemented by local authorities and migrants with support from “Migration and Local Development” Project implemented by UNDP Moldova with financial support of the Government of Switzerland.
