  • Moldova makes progress in ensuring equal opportunities for women and men in law enforcement sector Nov 19, 2018

    Ensuring gender equality and increasing the role of women in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) are discussed during a workshop based on Western Balkans experience. The event takes place in Chisinau during 19-20 November and is organised at the initiative of the National Association of Women in the Internal Affairs System (NAWIAS), with the support of UNDP, gathering women employed in the General Police Inspectorate, Border Police, and other MIA structures.

    Solar trees generating photovoltaic electricity will be installed in Chisinau in 2019. Chisinau’s inhabitants will be able to charge up for free their mobile devices, have access to the Internet and relax against the trunk of these trees.

    Chirsova village, populated by Bulgarian and Gagauz ethnics, situated in Gagauzia region of the Republic of Moldova, has committed to reduce cases or even eliminate domestic violence over the next two years. The initiative is part of a global project implemented by the UNDP and supported by the Republic of Korea.

    20 representatives of the National Employment Agency (NEA) and its territorial subdivisions participate in a two-day training programme on 15-16 November, 2018 in Chisinau. The training will focus on modern career guidance techniques and the use of a new mobile application designed for young people.

    85 women from different ethnic communities launched a resolution today, November 14, in Chișinău, at the national conference "Participation of young people and women from ethnic groups in decision-making processes", proposing solutions for the Government of Moldova that would help to ensure participation and representation of women in political and decision-making processes.

  • RoAid supports the fight against cervical cancer in the Republic of Moldova Nov 13, 2018

    The Agency for International Development Cooperation of Romania (RoAid) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will purchase advanced medical equipment for the prevention of cervical cancer in the Republic of Moldova. The two organizations signed an agreement earlier this year and the equipment will be shipped to Moldova at the beginning of 2019.

  • A touristic route is created in the centre of Moldova, with natives’ support Nov 9, 2018

    Three localities from the central part of the country, Cioresti, Dolna and Micleuseni, launched the rural touristic route “Dor de Codru” (Longing for the Forest). Beautiful places, secular Codri, popular crafts persons and agro-touristic pensions are among the 20 sightseeing places included in the route.

  • Energy-efficient street lighting for Congaz and safe drinking water for Chirsova, thanks to EU support Nov 7, 2018

    Congaz, Moldova’s biggest village, enjoys street lighting at night time again, after a break of twenty-five years. A modern and energy-efficient lighting network of 40 km length was launched in Congaz. The local public service was created thanks to European Union (EU) support and contributions of local and regional public authorities, through SARD Programme, implemented by UNDP.

    After a long time, inhabitants of Carmanova village, left bank of the Nistru River, celebrated Saint Patron’s day at local House of Culture, refurbished in the framework of the EU-funded Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP Moldova. Artistic bands from the right bank of the Nistru River joined the celebration.

    750 km is the distance traveled by the 9 electric, plug-in and hybrid cars participating at Moldova Hybrid Electro Marathon. Expedition members have lived a unique premier experience of driving environmentally friendly cars on large distances.

  • First Medical Training Center opens in Tiraspol Nov 2, 2018

    Medical professionals from obstetrical and child health institutions will use lifelike mannequins-based simulations to enhance their practical skills. The first Medical Training Center at Tiraspol Mother and Child Center was opened thanks to financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) offered in the framework of a project implemented by the UNDP.

  • More than 150 young people attend the National Youth Forum on Elections Nov 2, 2018

    The National Youth Forum on Elections shall familiarise the representatives of political youth organisations with the modality of conducting an election process and involve them in an election simulating exercise.
