  • Moldova embarks in EU4Climate regional project to tackle the direct and existential threat of climate change Apr 23, 2019

    EU4Climate regional project was launched on 23 April 2019 in Moldova. The initiative will support six Eastern Partnership countries in mitigation and adaptation to climate change and in development towards a low-emissions and climate-resilient economy, in line with the Paris Agreement. The EU4Climate project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.

LEP is an initiative of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Project "Promotion of youth employment" piloted for the first time in the Republic of Moldova.

  • Charity fair to support domestic violence survivors from Gagauzia region Apr 18, 2019

    10 journalists, bloggers, and singers conduct on 23 April 2019 a charity fair to support women suffering from violence. They will sell their personal clothes and accessories, and money will be donated to the first shelter to be opened in Gagauzia region for the survivors of domestic violence. This institution will be launched by the end of this year in the framework of a project implemented by UNDP.

  • “Daddy beats Mommy... I'm scared!” Teachers from Gagauzia region trained in response to domestic violence Apr 16, 2019

    For the first time, dozens of teachers from Gagauz-Yeri region of Moldova have been trained how to react when they spot incidents of violence in the families of children enrolled at the respective kindergartens. The teachers learned to respond right away when they detect signs of danger and to refer the cases to the authorities that will engage in solving them. The action is part of the project “Addressing violence against women in the Republic of Moldova: exploring and learning from local solutions”, implemented by UNDP with the support of the Republic of Korea.

  • Young volunteers will promote anticorruption messages in the educational institutions of the country Apr 15, 2019

    16 young boys and girls from different localities in Moldova, volunteers of the National Anticorruption Centre, will contribute to preventing corruption and promoting integrity through innovative methods. With UNDP support, they will develop communication platforms and come up with ideas to combat informal fees, favouritism, cheating – practices which generate corruption in education.

    Non-governmental and community organizations are invited by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) to submit project proposals valued up to 50,000.00 USD to address environmental challenges.

  • Centre for survivors of domestic violence from the south of the country will be accessible for people with disabilities Apr 2, 2019

    The centre from the Gagauzia region for women who suffer from violence will be accessible for people with disabilities. The institution will have universal design, adapted to the needs of all beneficiaries, and will be operational before the end of this year, thanks to the cooperation between UNDP and the Executive Committee of Gagauzia.

  • The Climate Box: Children from Moldova will learn about climate change and carbon footprint Apr 1, 2019

    Children between the ages of 7 and 14 from the Republic of Moldova will learn about climate change and the reduction of carbon footprint, due to an innovative and interactive learning toolkit on climate change developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the region of Europe and Central Asia. Thus, the Climate Box toolkit, also available as a smartphone application, encourages a climate and environment-friendly lifestyles. The educational toolkit was developed by UNDP with financial support from the Government of the Russian Federation.

    The European Union will support joint initiatives of the civil society from both banks with up to 20,000 euros per project in the framework of the fifth phase of the EU “Confidence Building Measures” Programme, implemented by UNDP.

  • Chisinau paves the way towards innovative and green urban development Mar 27, 2019

    Chisinau hosts during 27-29 March 2019 a regional event on designing and testing urban experiments to address complex issues faced by municipalities from Moldova, Serbia, Macedonia and Armenia. The design lab is organized as part of the City Experiment Fund, financed by the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic.

  • “Dinamo” pool will be reconstructed, with UNDP support Mar 27, 2019

    The swimming pool of the Central Sports Club “Dinamo” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is being reconstructed for the first time over the last 40 years and will become more accessible for its beneficiaries. After modernization, it will be suitable to host national and regional sport events. The renovation works are carried out in the framework of a project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) using the financial resources provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova. The budget for the reconstruction is 712,000 USD.

  • Twenty-five 3D-printed benches will be installed in Chisinau this spring Mar 22, 2019

    Twenty-five 3D-printed benches made of concrete will be installed on the Mircea cel Batran Boulevard in Chisinau this spring. The benches are produced with the support of the “Sustainable Green Cities” project, funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Chisinau City Hall is the key project partner.
