    UNDP Moldova and the National Institute of Economic Research are launching the first Skills Observatory, mainly focused on youth and their active engagement. The innovation lab will conduct researches and experiments around topics of skills mismatch, underutilization and increased employability for young women and men.

In Gura Bicului village, Anenii Noi district, the Medical facility that assists people from both banks of the Nistru River was refurbished in the framework of the EU-funded Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the UNDP.

  • New WHO study on health and well-being of Europe’s youth reveals that obesity continues to rise May 18, 2017

    A new WHO report, launched today at the European Congress on Obesity in Portugal, reveals that the number of obese adolescents is continuing to rise in many countries across the WHO European Region. “Despite sustained efforts to tackle childhood obesity, one in three adolescents is still estimated to be overweight or obese in Europe, with the highest rates found in southern European and Mediterranean countries. What is of particular concern is that the epidemic is on the rise in eastern European countries, where historically rates have been lower,” states Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe

    The Government of the Republic of Moldova and United Nations the signed today a US$ 155.5 million development assistance programme for the years 2018-2022. The new programme of cooperation, “Republic of Moldova-United Nations Partnership Framework for Sustainable Development 2018-2022”, is guided by national development priorities, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its associated 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

  • 30,000 People from Taraclia District have now access to safe drinking water sources May 9, 2017

    Public drinking water distribution stations, built with the financial support of the Embassy of Bulgaria under a project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), were inaugurated today in Taraclia and Tvardita towns. Besides these two public stations, provided with modern water treatment equipment, another five were put into operation in Valea Perjei, Albota de Sus, Cairaclia, Ciumai and Cealic villages of Taraclia district.

    UNDP Moldova and the management of the “Mihai Viteazul” high school, with the support of Mobiasbanca organized the second tree planting event, part of the campaign “Make apples cool”. More than 1000 children participated in the festive event celebrating the importance of apples throughout history and in daily life. The small apple orchard was planted by this year’s graduates and was kindly offered by Codru ST and Alextehagro LTD.

A Tourist Information Center, opened today in Tiraspol, will recommend tourist destinations, accommodation possibilities, and other relevant information for foreign visitors or locals, who want to discover new touristic attractions. This is one of the projects implemented within the framework of the EU-funded Support to Confidence Building Measures (SCBM) Programme, implemented by the UNDP.

    UNDP announces a call for selecting at least 18 more partner localities beneficiaries of the “Migration and Local Development” project, implemented with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).     Sports activities will become more exciting for the children of Proteagailovca village, situated on the left bank of the Nistru River. This is because the local school gym is being refurbished for the first time in almost 60 years after it had opened its doors for the first time. The investments, in amount of 134,000 euros, were provided by the European Union, in the framework of the "Support to Confidence Building Measures" Programme, implemented by the UNDP.

Nevertheless, the concern about the energy security and efficiency, and the production of its own energy from renewable sources still remains essential for the Republic of Moldova.
