  • EU and UN team up to eliminate violence against women and girls Sep 20, 2017

    Today at the United Nations General Assembly in New York the European Union and the United Nations launched a EUR 500 million Spotlight Initiative to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. The EU-UN Spotlight Initiative was launched by the EU High Representative / Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica, together with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.

    During the period 13 – 17 September 2017, 25 investigative journalists and civic activists from Moldova participated at the Open Data Media Camp, where they learned how to operate with open data: where to find, use visualize and interpret them. The camp took place under the Slovak Republic's Transfer of Knowledge and Transition Experience Program, supported by SlovakAid and organized together with UNDP Moldova.

  • An IT application will lead to public services modernization Sep 12, 2017

    IT specialists joined in a boot camp to develop an application that will collect users’ feedback on public services quality. At the same time, public institutions will use this innovative tool to evaluate how their operational procedures meet people real needs. Public servants will adjust the delivering of the services to the recommendations and suggestions collected from beneficiaries, therefore the services will be human-centered designed.

    The EU-funded Energy and Biomass Project provides free training courses for operators of biomass heating plants of its 200 beneficiary institutions. The 40-hour courses will be conducted between September and November 2017.

    Lean start-up, Crowdfunding, Socially Responsible Business or Human Centered Design will become working tools for 30 entrepreneurs from the right and the left bank of the Nistru River, who participated in the period of 9th and 17th of August at the Business Innovations School. The training was organized in the framework of the Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP.

    The Ialoveni City Hall and the Hometown Association of Ialoveni organized a meeting with their natives returned home, attended by over 50 migrants. This is the first event organized by 40 partner localities of the Migration and Local Development Project (MiDL) on the occasion of the Diaspora Days. The Project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and is implemented by UNDP Moldova.

  • Sixty-five girls across Moldova acquired technology skills at GirlsGoIT summer camp Jul 31, 2017

    Sixty-five girls aged 16 to 20 from 13 regions of Moldova learned web development, robotics, and 3D printing at the third edition of GirlsGoIT summer camp that took place July 21-30, 2017, in Chisinau, Moldova. The participants have also visited several technology companies, such as DAS Solutions, Moldcell, Matrix and Tekwill. Additionally, DAS Solutions offered internships for two summer camp participants.

  • Eliminate hepatitis: WHO Jul 28, 2017

    New World Health Organization data from 28 countries - representing approximately 70% of the global hepatitis burden - indicate that efforts to eliminate hepatitis are gaining momentum. Published to coincide with World Hepatitis Day, the data reveal that nearly all 28 countries have established high-level national hepatitis elimination committees (with plans and targets in place) and more than half have allocated dedicated funding for hepatitis responses.

  • European Union supports 16 businesses in ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia District Jul 26, 2017

    16 entrepreneurs from ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia District received grants from the European Union for a value of up to 17,900 Euro each. The support will enable launching of new businesses and developing small and medium enterprises, resulting in creation of over 90 new jobs.
