    EU LEADER rural development initiative brings promising results in ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia district

    78 projects will boost local rural development in ATU Gagauzia, Taraclia and in neighboring districts. The projects are supported by the European Union in the framework of LEADER initiative. The Local Action Groups (LAGs), responsible for the projects’ development and implementation, met today at a conference combined with an open-air fair to present the results of their activities, to exchange experience and to promote local products.

    Have you heard of Stima Nistrului, or a love story of Laur and Teia, or the legend about the origins of Tirnauca village? Twenty fairytales and legends collected in the communities of Holercani, a village on the right bank, and Tirnauca, a village on the left bank, were published in a book entitled Fairytales and Legends from across the Nistru.

    Forced displacement above 68M in 2017, new global deal on refugees critical

    In its annual Global Trends report, released today, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency said 68.5 million people were displaced as of the end of 2017. Among them were 16.2 million people who became displaced during 2017 itself, either for the first time or repeatedly – indicating a huge number of people on the move and equivalent to 44,500 people being displaced each day, or a person becoming displaced every two seconds.
