    EU and UN team up to eliminate violence against women and girls

    Today at the United Nations General Assembly in New York the European Union and the United Nations launched a EUR 500 million Spotlight Initiative to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls. The EU-UN Spotlight Initiative was launched by the EU High Representative / Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica, together with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.

    25 Moldovan journalists and civic activists pledge for open data and more transparency

    During the period 13 – 17 September 2017, 25 investigative journalists and civic activists from Moldova participated at the Open Data Media Camp, where they learned how to operate with open data: where to find, use visualize and interpret them. The camp took place under the Slovak Republic's Transfer of Knowledge and Transition Experience Program, supported by SlovakAid and organized together with UNDP Moldova.

    Ecaterina Chiciuc is 60 years old. She has lived in this village, Slobozia Mare, since she got married at 20. Since that time, she has been carrying water to her house from a well in her neighborhood. Her daughter and grandchildren have shared the same burden for the entirety of their lives. In most rural communities, it is the women who are responsible for the water supply in the household.
